There are few different verities of Dracaena. We will be talking about the Dracaena Warnekii. This is a great plant to add variegation to your collection with its simple care and unique colors.

Where It’s From

Draceaena is a large family of plant, the Warnekii are mostly from South America. In its natural environment this plant grows under other trees or shrubs in rain forests.

Water

Surprisingly, as rain forest dweller it prefers to be on the dryer side before a watering. Let the plant almost dry our before watering, this plant is quite hardy and only needs watered every 7-10 days, if dry.

Light

This is a low light plant. The Dracaena Warnekii is use to growing under much larger plants and not getting a lot of light. Making it a great candidate for being far from a window.

Easy Pro Tip: There is no such thing as a no light plant!

Repotting

Dracaena Warnekii like to be root bound and they are very slow growers, this is great news for people who dread repotting (me), it will not need many if any repots for years.

Don’t over Love

Dracaena Warnekii are small bushy plants they will not need pruned or trimmed. These plants thrive on neglect. If you are a great plant water-er this may not be the plant for you. However, if you think you can forget the plant and remember it every now and again then this is for you!
