EasyMode: Coffee Plant
Coffee Plants are the newest trendy plant. They are also easy plants. You can have your coffee and grow it too!
Where it’s From
There are many forms of coffee plants that come from any different areas of the world such as Costa rica, Hawaii and India. These plants thrive in locations where the weather is warm, sunny and humid but don’t worry they can adjust to your home with a little extra TLC.
Light
Coffee plants prefer bright indirect light. They can start to brown if they are not getting enough light. These plants can also get brow burn spots if they are getting too much light. Look for these signs and move them as needed. I recommend a south facing window with filtered light (a sheer curtain will do!)
Water
They are from humid environments but they don’t like their roots to be wet. Aim to keep your soil “moist” on your moister meter or water every 7-10 days. They require a well draining pots and soil. Look for a soil with with coconut coir for the perfect blend. If you see yellow leaves you are watering too often and need to reduce your watering. Additionally, if you want the a deep green Coffee plant use a humidifier to add that extra moisture in the air.
Don’t over love
Only repot your coffee plant when it shows signs of growing out of its pots such as roots poking out the bottom, slower than expected growth or even growing out of its pot.
Upcycle a broken coffee cup or coffee tin to create a neat decor!
